End date of Degree

Post by swati46 » Mon Aug 04, 2008 9:39 am

I have the following questions related to the degree dates:

1) Is it really important to enter the Start and End dates of the degree course or are months and year sufficient.

2) I earned my Bachelors of Technology degree from India. It was the usual 4 years degree course. I joined in August 1999 and had my last semester exams in June 2003 . My degree states that I passed the exam in June 2003. Would this cause an issue as it is less then 4 years. But usually in a degree course you pass the exam before the 4 years even though you get your degree after a few months.

Would appreciate if somebody could answer the questions

How about this.

Final Year July 2002 - June 2003
3rd Year July 2001 - June 2002
2nd Year July 2000 - June 2001
1st Year July 1999 - June 2000

Now one know if you started in August 1999 or July.

They are just interested in the Start Date and the end date. I think giving the dates wrong could cause problems if they start verifying things. My question is that this must have been faced by many people before. What did they do. Did they just give the actual dates and the UK BA were ok with it. One of my friends is doing his MBA from UK and his course started on 1st Oct 2007 and is ending on 12th Sep 2008. ( even though it is considered to be a 12 month course.)

I used the formula I wrote earlier and have T1. Frankly speaking I do not remember when my degree course had started and when it had ended. What do I do in such case, apply good guess which can not be termed as sin.

If your are too concerned about dates then quote actuals. I would have quoted actual dates if I was aware, without the worry of exact 4 year funda.

I don't think dates will land you in any trouble.

Be aware that since they are asking for the start dates and end dates, I think it wont be appropriate to just giving the month and the year. I would have in a format dd/mm/yyyy.

why dont you just give your academic transcript in (though its not required)

I can't remember my start and end dates as well so I am going to put the month and the year, then add the transcript as evidence. But honestly, i don't think the start and end dates are a major issue if you have the degree
