Naturalisation for myself and Family

Post by mansoorali » Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:51 pm

Hi,

I got ILR based on T2 General in 2018 and eligible for Naturalisation, my family (wife and 2 children age 7 and 10) got ILR in March-2019.
What document do I need for my Naturalisation application and for my wife?
And can I apply for British citizenship my both kids at the same time or after I got a passport? they both born outside the UK and got ILR based on my ILR.

Thanks

My current Passport has been expired, do I need to get a new passport before applying for Naturalization?

Hi Mansoor,

We both have the same name although across the border :) :)

Since your dependants got ILR in March 2019, I suggest wait till March 2020 and apply for Naturalisation for the entire family including yourself together. Documentation is very straighforward. I did it 2 months back and I got my naturalisation certificate in just one week. After that I applied for British passport which I got in one week.

1. Your current passport (If expired, I suggest you get it renewed to avoid complications)
2. ILR BRP card
3. Your last 5 years continous stay in the UK - Utility bills
4. Marraige certificate
5. Birth certificate for your kids

Same documentation set for your family.

Thanks
Mansoor

Non UK born children must become British first. You cannot get passport before that. Your passport does not need to be valid though

Hi Mansoor,

Nice to chat with you, :) Thanks for the detailed reply, Better to apply together as for kids I cannot provide bills etc, however as a family yes we have bills and bank statements etc
DO I need each year utility bill or Passport showing entry stamps enough? I have doubt that I could find bill for each year, there might be some missing, any other sort of proof?

Non EU citizens who came through the UK immigration rules do NOT have to submit bills as proof of residence.

Passports are sufficient showing entry/exit stamps.

If you have an expired passport, you need evidence covering the period since expiry, such as P60s, payslips, council tax and tenancy agreement.
