Indian E-Visa application before surrendering Indian Passport

Hi All,

I received my citizenship and British Passport this month and I still have my Indian Passport. I have booked an appointment to surrender my Indian passport but I got the date of almost 2 weeks later. Before that I am planning to apply for E-visa for India as I might have to travel. I have following questions regarding that

1) Can I apply for Indian E-visa before surrendering my Indian Passport ?

2) If I apply for E-visa now then when does the visa validity actually starts ?

3) Are there any timeline threads for Indian E-visa ?

Double check that, but I heard India allows a grace period of 3 months after the acquisition of the British passport. During that period you can still travel on Indian passport.
