Work permits are apparently up to 1 August, although it can take a couple of days for a decision to filter out from the department. Also, a while ago they were having problems with dates, so they were taking longer than it seemed.
I believe that the decision should be sent to the applicant (if you applied, it's you, if your employer, them), and the original work permit, if granted, will be sent to the employer, unless otherwise specified on the form.
If concerned, give them a ring if possible.
