proof of living in the uk

Post by ahz84 » Mon Mar 09, 2020 10:33 pm

Hi There,
I am a British citizen.
I am applying for my wife's citizenship /naturalisation application (non-EEA/EU route)
My wife got her ILR in January 2020, and she has been in the country for over 3 years.

Question is, what should I include in proof of living in the UK?

Appreciate it if you can help as my appointment is on Saturday.

thanks,

Depends what her occupation was in the country in the last three years. If she studied, she will need to provide university letters. If she worked, she will have to provide employer’s letters, P60. If she hasn’t studied nor worked, she will need to provide tenancy agreements, council tax letters, anything that can prove she is linked to addresses in the UK and has been doing so in the last three years. If nothing is in her name it will be more difficult.

Just to clarify, if she's been working, just P60 will suffice, or employer(s) letters, not both.

Hi, My wife is a director of a limited company since 2015.
We are living on the current address since 2018.
Should I include the current mortgage letter from the bank ( as it has my wife's name)?
I have p60 for last year but haven't got anything before that?

Appreciate your help, please?

Your wife should provide the HMRC self-assessment returns.
Mortgage Letter not required as it's basically like a bank statement which is not accepted.
Another option is to submit the Council Tax Bills which show her name.

So I have found the following documents

1) Council tax; 17/18 ( old property) Issued on 6 March 2017
2) Council Tax. 18/19 ( new property)
3) Council Tax, 19/20 ( new property)

Also 17-18 old property tenancy agreement.
New property mortgage offer letter
Feb 2017 HMRC letters

My application was submitted on 8th March 2020, so will using a letter from 6 march 2017 should be fine?
