Data call - to update LAMike's spreadsheet

Post by lynn132 » Fri Feb 11, 2005 5:26 pm

All,
LAMike had a great spreadsheet developed, but it does not appear to have been updated in a while. I'll update it - but need the data from people. Here's what we need

Ref no - if you have it. at least the first three digits
Date submitted -
Date decision made - (accept or reject, date from the letter)
Date decision received
Location

I can't promise to have this done overnight, but I will work on it as soon as I start getting data. If you've already put this info somewhere on the board, please repost it here or send me a private message so I don't have to go through the entire forum to find it. Thanks!

:D We especially need data from November applicants, as we have a significant datagap there :)

what about profession

Post by wazman » Mon Feb 14, 2005 9:18 pm

It would be useful to plot the approval time against the profession of the applicant. Just a thought to see if they are picking and choosing.

I just wish they would come out and say how their processing works!

OK, I'm waiting to hear from the administrator on how to post the spreadsheet for everyone to see, but in the meantime wanted to share some of the key points that the data show:

• For applications we know about (about 40 in all) from June 7 (current operational service date, approx ref #20000) and October 30 (approx ref #26800), the only approvals we know of were from expedited applications with job offers faxed in. Some others have had additional information requested, but no decision yet.
• About two-thirds of the applications we know about (about 28 in all) submitted between November 1 (approx ref #26900) and February 15 (approx ref #35000) have received a decision, 12 approvals, 8 rejections. Decision times range from 6 to 87 days.
• The processing time estimator LAMike developed indicates that applications submitted today (February 15) should have an approximate 48 day (elapsed days, not business days) processing time, or six to seven weeks. This is in line with the performance goals listed in the Work Permits Business Plan for the year posted on the forum yesterday.
• We have approximately 158 data points, covering the whole of 2004 and 2005 to date. Data sources used include: LAMike’s original data, updated as much as possible, and forums on the following websites: immigrationboards.com; americanexpats.com; hsmp-services.com.

I hope this information is helpful to everyone.

there is a good chance that they have gone thru all the applications from Dec 1 to end of January, (we have someone from 27 or 28 January who recieved a response a week or so ago i think name was DSD), so if this the case they hopefully will move swiftly and APPROVE applicants from June/July who have been waiting and waiting

indeed f2k i wish to share your optimism. i believe since they are actually up-to-date with dec-jan, they should be able to channel more resources to july-august. i think they have very few june left as quite a number of june applicants have been dealt with, leaving possibly last week of june.
hoping that between now and march end, july and half of august applications should be through!

Lynn,

Thanks for your efforts for compiling all the data. While compiling, could you also apply the statistics of rate of approval of applications post Dec.'04 to the June-Nov'04 applications. This situation may arise if all the case workers currently working on the new applications are diverted to June-November applications. :)

I don't have the capability to upload it, and have asked the administrator if he can do it. I'm waiting for a response.
As far as applying the approval rates, that will be problematic, primarily because when LAMike was putting this spreadsheet together to begin with, he took out data on rejections and expedited applications through August. In the update, I have added all the data I could find, including rejections, so that we could determine if there's a pattern of some kind.
