What benefits I'm entitled to?

Post by Jack&Jill » Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:48 am

Hi,

I'm 37 Years old British Citizen. I'm a director of limited company. No trading and not working since November 2018. I'm in the process of closing my limited company.

My husband is 37 Years old holding Indefinite Leave to Remain and working as a permanent employee earning 50 K/annum.

My 3 year old child is British citizen and receiving child benefit.

Please suggest me what are the other benefits I'm entitled to? Honestly, I have no friends or relatives to discuss about this. And when I check gov.uk website I'm totally confused. To whom I discuss? No idea. That is why I'm here. Please help me what are the benefits I'm entitled to?

Thanks in advance.

If you only paid the reduced Type 2 National Insurance, then you cannot claim contribution based jobseekers, now called New Style JSA.

It's likely your husbands wage is too high for the low income benefit called Universal Credit

You can also use a benefit calculator to check.

If your husband earns over 50k, he may be taxed on Child Benefit.

Likely too high a wage for Council Tax Reduction - check on your council's site.

Make sure the Child benefit claim is your your name as with a 3 year old child, that will give you a Credit towards a UK state pension if you aren't paying National Insurance.
