Entry date to the UK

Post by Zerubbabel » Thu May 28, 2020 10:09 am

Hello

I am trying to help someone who has the following issue:

The guy came in a lorry at one point around 2005 (+/- 2 years). He doesn't remember the exact date.I think it's genuine. When people are living through these conditions, they are not going around taking note of every thing that happens to them.

In 2009, he got married to an EEA national (at least thee is a certificate to give the exact date) and received an EEA card then an PR.

Now, the dude has a PR and Settled under EUSS and would like to apply for British Citizenship.

Issue: when he filled his initial EEA application with the assistance of a solicitor, he had to fill an entry date in the UK. He just filled a date according to his best guess. Something like 1/1/2005 or 2006... etc.

Now, as he is ready to apply for the citizenship, they ask again the date of first entry. But he has no idea what he put in previous applications.

He can guess again but he doesn't want to create a discrepancy based on a date he doesn't remember.

What could be the solution here? Is it possible to get a copy of previous applications made to the Home Office?

Apply for a Subject Access Report (SAR) to see what information the HO hold on his immigration history?

Similar illegal migrants when apply flrfp/discretionary visas after 20 years then always remember their date of arrival & other incidents/events happened in their illegal career. Anyway the only source to know the date of arrival is through SAR as CASA has already suggested or perhaps from the last submitted application as this question is inescapable.

Thank you. I think a SAR request would be the best option here.

The person was deported from so many countries, crossed so many borders... there is no way he can genuinely tell what day each page of the adventure was written.

Can't recall correctly as when but there was a guy with a tattoo on his arm with his date of arrival. Also in my experience overseas parents usually remember that date due to being a touchy moment when their child gone too far from them.
