Employment history quick check

Post by Myky » Sun Jun 21, 2020 11:33 am

Hi All,

My apologies if this question has been asked here before.

1.50 Employment history in the UK during the past 10 years, or since the date of entry if you have been here for less than 10 years

I have been living in the UK since 2009. From 2009 -2015 l was working as self-employed.
From 2015 till now l am an employee.
Do l have to mention in the section about my employment all self-employment firms or am l only mentioning my employer name (nothing about self-employment).

Thanks,
Myky

Hello

You have to report your employment from 2010 to 2020 for this application.

Self-employment is an employment and has to be indicated in the application form.

Thanks @Zerubbabel,

Wow, that will be a tedious task for me as l was working here and there for two-three weeks and was getting paid from multiple firms.
What proves do they usually need for self-employment?

Thanks again,
Myky

Self-employment is you and your company, if you have one. You are not listing your clients. As self-employment is not under PAYE you should provide copies of your tax self-assessment returns.

off topic but ...
If (just in case) I got my employment dates slightly wrong (something to the tune of one month as it was 10 years ago and the place was closed due to covid19 so coudnt get through to them ) is there any chance to correct it up until my biometrics are taken ?

If you don't have exact dates then use approximate dates, month/year. I believe once you have submitted your application you can't go back to the detail screens but you can upload additional notes with your documents, if you wish. Approximate dates will not adversely impact your application.

Guys,

Does this look reasonable when declaring self-employment (online application form):
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additional employment details (3)
Job title: Self-employed
Employer name: n/a
Additional employer's address: London
Start Date: 1 May 2010
End Date: 1 May 2015
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will attach statements too.

Thanks,
Myky
