Dear iochemFem,
Thank you for your reply, I really appreciated it.
This is really positive for Tier 2 holders who will switch to Global Talent visa. But I can see that this is a bit biased since we can have 34 months with T2 and 2 months with Global Talent visa and then we will be eligible for ILR.
In the case, don't you think Home Office would allow Tier 2 General visa holders to apply for ILR after 3 years rather than 5 years!
Regards
My friend got ILR under global talent route. She spent 2 years and 10 months under Tier 2 category, before switching out to Global Talent category in early March 2020 within the UK.
Applied for ILR in June 2020, after just 2.5 months in Global Talent Visa. Biometrics delays were there due to Covid1, but managed to get an UKVCAS appointment in mid August 2020, and got her ILR approval letter.
Yes, so you can work on T2 for nearly 3 years, and just 1 month on Global Talent visa. There is no bias, because there was no Global Talent option specifically available for exceptionally talented researchers, and the settlement option is in consideration of their research contributions.
