ILR earning requirements for Global Talent

Hi All,

I'm currently under a Global Talent (Exceptional promise) visa after having spent 21 months on Tier 2 (General). My understanding is that the requirements for ILR under GTV is 36 months' residence, and 'the applicant must have earned money during their last grant of leave. These moneys must be linked to the expert field which led to their initial endorsement'.

I am endorsed under a Leverhulme Trust funding for 3 years. I want to move to part-time (50% FTE) for my last year, which means my annual income will be 50% of my current income. My question is would this jeopardise my ILR application when I apply in October 2021, because my earnings will be lower than what it was when I was initially endorsed. Might my ILR application be rejected on the basis that my earnings are lower, even though they still come under the same grant funding I was endorsed under?

Any thoughts or accounts of similar situations and experiences would be greatly appreciated!

My understanding is that as long as you are doing work in your expert field it shouldn't matter if it's the same job/wage as when you were endorsed. You simply have to show that you are 'earning money' in your 'expert field'. The Cambridge guidance has been quite helpful (and someone posted this guidance earlier in response to another query).

You'll simply need to show you've been working in this field - and they suggest 3 months of payslips:

From the Cambridge PDF

Evidence of currently working at an ‘exceptional talent level’. This does not need to cover the
full three year period. We recommend the following evidence:
 Aletterfromyourdepartment/institutionwhichconfirmsyouarecurrentlyemployed,
dates of employment, your job title and your salary; and
 Yourlast3monthsofpayslips.

So you should be fine!

also to follow up - even if you had a different job in your general expert field you should be fine. It should fit with the field that you put down on your initial application.

Thanks for the link Zimba. That's actually for Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) which has its own separate settlement route that is now closed to new entrants. However I did find the guidance for GTV which states there is no minimum earnings requirement

So you should be fine!

This is not completely true. You should have just earned money in the UK linked to your expert field sometime during the grant of your last GTV visa.

It is not compulsory to be employed in your field at the time of applying for settlement.
