EEA EFM biometrics and requesting passports back

Hello,

I posted my EEA EFM application on the 15th of August, however I have not yet received the biometrics letter. Should I be worried?

I also wondered whether they are using previous biometrics for current applications? The last time I gave my biometrics was September 2019 for a Tier 4 visa within the UK.

Lastly, is it okay to request my sponsors passport back using the online request form? She needs to return home to see her grandfather who is unwell. If it is okay, should I wait for communication on my biometrics before I request her passport back? And is there a certain time period I should wait? Currently it has been two weeks!
