EEA residence card refusal/marriage of convenience

Post by atenolol » Thu Sep 11, 2008 2:37 am

Hi guys,

I came across this seemingly interesting but rather complex case of a Malaysian dude who was an illegal immigrant legally married to an EEA national and applied for a residence card. HO refused to issue him the card because they though that his marriage was one of convenience. His case was dismissed after he appealed. Check the link below:

For those of us with no legal training there may be a lot of legal jargon behind it but the main points of the case are clear. It's interesting to see how they prove cases of marriage of convenience. Comments welcome.
