Long Term Residency

Post by Sham321 » Wed Oct 28, 2020 10:57 am

Hi All,

I have a question on the requirements for long term residency. I am on stamp4 for 5 years based on 2004 students scheme. I am going to apply for citizenship but the process is couple of years long so I am also looking to apply for long term residency. My question is, am I eligible to apply for long term residency? Can anyone please advise on this?

Thanks in Advance.

You can check here:
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/inis/pages/lo ... _residency

Not sure if you qualify as some stamps/schemes are excluded.

Looks like takes at least 6 months to get though so why not just renew your current permission and apply for citizenship instead?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I will apply for citizenship but also thinking to apply long term residency as well because currently I have to extend my stamp 4 on yearly basis.

No. LTR is for those who obtained Stamp 1 or 4 based on Employment Permits. You need to have either a 2-year Green Card or Critical Skills Employment Permit plus 3-year Stamp 4 based on the permit, or a 5-year General or Dependent Employment Permit.

In order to apply for LTR, the main document you need is a copy of your original employment permit.
