IND Feedback and Complaints Unit

Post by Raghu » Thu Feb 17, 2005 8:25 pm

I applied in Oct 04 and have been worried as everyone else who has applied between June - Nov 04 on the state of affairs at HO.

I came across the following contact details for IND complaints and feedback unit.
------------------------------
Feedback and Complaints
We welcome feedback on our services. Please contact us if you have a comment or complaint. Our aim is continually to improve our service to all our customers.

You can email us on: ind.cu@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

Or you can contact us in writing at:
IND Complaints and Customer Focus Unit
PO Box 1384
Croydon
CR9 3YJ
Or you can telephone or fax us on:
Tel: 0870 241 6523
Fax: 020 8760 4310
----------------------------------------------

We can all come up with various theories for the way applications are being processed or write/call/fax using the above contact points and REQUEST for an explaination.

IF there are enough enquires I am sure we will get to know what is going on and hopefully the 'June 7' date will change on the operational service announcements.

If someone has already written/spoken to HO at the above contact points, please share the details.

I think we deserve an answer, so please do write/fax/call HO and ask for an answer !! Just remember to be nice to them ;-)

Cheers,
Raghu

I have sent the following mail to above mentioned address.

lets see what will be the result.

*************
SUB: Current HO processing times for HSMP

Dear Sir/Madam,

The current processing date for HSMP on the HO website is not changed from
almost two months (i.e June 07) though lot of applicants from Dec to Feb
time frame are getting response on there HSMP applications(these
applications are not priority appl).

I am a 23rd June applicant with Reference no: 21205 and haven't heard
anything from HO.

Can you please clarify why these out-of-turn applications are processed and
what will be the status of my HSMP assessment as lot of my career / life decisions
are based on HSMP result.

The non-updation of your website and unknown procedure of processing application/patten has left all the applicants in dilemma.

I have been waiting anxiously for my results, which is very very precious to me.
Hoping to hear from you.

Thanks and Warm Regards,
Gunjan

I support you to take action. I will provide my information if needed. The behavior of HSMP is unacceptable and immoral .

I also have sent inquiry email, but only get a response of :The service levels are currently being reviewed, when this has been
completed the website will be updated.

We should take other action to let Home office our discontentment.

Thanks for sharing with us their response. It is very interesting response really which does not make much sense at all. First he claims the infor on the website is 'Fairly accurate' and he goes on to say it is taking 32weeks, maybe he hasnt looked at the website lately (infact the past 6weeks) cause it says 26weeks, even 32weeks is not accurate if you relate to 7th June it would be about 36weeks behind. what i gathered though is that they are 32 weeks behind therefore around the last week of June.
what doesnt make sense though is them trying to clear the blacklog by starting with the ones in the back of the queue, whatever new working methods they applied should have been to apply to the June applicants.
Does he mean you can request urgent treatment for cases other than job offers? one thing we know about that is eventhose submitting job offers are waiting in the queue behind people who havent even posted their applications, unless if they have now cleared that queue as well

I think what is happening is that they have decided to deal with post dec/jan applications and ensure their new procedure works in clearing 90% of whatever comes in.

They probably have 2-3 people dealing with the june-nov lot which is why it is so slow.

Once they are able to confirm that the new process works - they will probably just finish the whole june-nov lot in a span of 2-3 weeks by getting everyone to deal with the old lots.

Urgent treatment seems to be only for cases with job offers.

I wrote back again asking that they explain what new procedures they have adopted and what is going on with the old lot .... hope to get a response by mon/tues.

I feel if there were substantial enquries, they will put up something on the website. As of now i think only 3 people incl me have written. Its sad the other june-nov applicants don't want to do anything about it.

I have also lodgd my complain with the IND complaints web address stating that it is unfair to keep old applications pending while clearing the new ones. I am also an August applicant and since then lost n number of opportunities by not having HSMP approval. Nobody is willing to give a firm job offer.

Hi 22277 and evry1,

I think HO have made even the automated response for CCT 'coz even i recieved the same response as 22277 has got i.e

Dear abc,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 18th February, 2004.

In an attempt to reduce with the ever increasing backlog, new procedures
were introduced in January of this year and it is possible that newer
applications may have been processed much quicker. The HSMP team are
committed to reducing this backlog. However, we are still experiencing
considerable delays and the information given on the website is fairly
accurate and applications are taking approx. 32 weeks to casework.

You may, however, make a request for the HSMP Team to process your
application urgently. To do this you must fax the HSMP Team on 0114 259
3827, giving them details of why you are requesting urgent treatment, and
they will give your request serious consideration.

Kind regards,

John Lindley

Hopefully, Monday will bring some movement forward. :)

22277,

Only the date in first line is being changed (which can be automated).
Rest whole matter is same.

I have also made the complaint.Lets hope I dont get an automated response.I think this whole matter is being handled with absolutely no sensitivity. They need to realise that a lot of people's lives and livelihoods are at stake.
Copying my letter below.I will paste the reply as soon as I get one.

Dear Sir/Madam,

The current processing date for HSMP on the HO website has not changed from
20 December 2004 (i.e June 07 2004) though a lot of applicants from
Dec 04 to Feb 05
time frame are getting their applications processed(without even
having a job offer, they dont even appeal for urgent treatment)

Can you please clarify why these out-of-turn applications are processed and
what will be the status of my HSMP assessment as lot of my career /
life decisions
are based on HSMP timelines published?

The whole application progress seems very random and untransparent now

I have been waiting anxiously for my results and I have spent months
of planning based on my application being processed.

Hoping to hear from you.

Thanks and Warm Regards,

This is the reply I have got.It seems quite similar(almost automated) to the ones the others received.Anybody else received anything different?
