Current visa if cancelling a new Tier 2 visa application

Hi all,
Suppose one is waiting for the decision of a new change of employment application for Tier 2 visa. What if one needs to cancel this outstanding Tier 2 visa application with the new employer? Will the current immigration status with the current employer be still valid? Thanks!
