Tier 1 Application

Hi,

I am currently on Work Permit which expires in 2012. I am planning to apply for Tier 1 application which gives me flexibility for job and I will not be dependent on anyone.

Will Home office have problem that I have visa till 2012 why I am applying for Tier 1?
