FLR (M) extension queries

(Not sure if I am positing in the correct thread - sorry if I am not)

I am wondering if someone here could help me with my below question.

I am a British Citizen and my wife is in her FLRM (2 year completed of 5). We are looking to migrate to Australia in 6 - 8 months time. I am wondering if it is better to have my wife's FLRM extended or go without extension? I dont want to loose her stay in the UK by moving out. Is there a time limit on how long you should have been in the UK (in FLRM extension) prior to applying for ILR?

I appreciate I have time, but would like to know the option, so we could make the best decision.
