cheaper route to get child a citizenship

Both me and my wife are EU citizens and have a settled status.
Recently I submitted my naturalisation application and waiting for the decision.
My wife is preparing her application and will submit it in a couple of days.

We have a 5 year old child and would like to get him citizenship too.

I know there is a MN1 route and the fee is £1012.

Given our current circumstances (and hopefully both of us having citizenship in a couple of months), is there a cheaper route to get him a citizenship?

There is no cheaper route. You will have to pay the MN1 fee.

The only way for a child who is not born a British citizen to acquire British citizenship is registration before the age of 18 or naturalisation afetr that age. And the fees for registration are the same for all applicants, including for those children who are entitled to registration.

No it doesn't change anything. The same fee applies.

When did the parents move to the UK? Does the parents have solely A8 nationalities or do they have other EEA nationalities?

The parents moved to the UK in 2013, they both have A8 (Polish) nationality only.
They got settled status in 2019. The child was born in 2016.
Also I lived in the UK beforehand, between 2006 and 2009.

I am afraid that in that case, there is no alternative to Form MN1 and its concomitant fees.

Had one of the parents completed five continuous years of exercising treaty rights in the UK before the birth of the child, there may have been an alternative. But in this case, that alternative does not appear to exist.
