How long can Tier 1 stay without Job

Hi

I have been made redundant since Aug 31, 2008. I am still looking for a job but have not been able to find any yet. How long can I stay in the uk without a job until I find one.

Please respond people. I am an old member who is really worried.

I have been made redundant on 16th September 2008 and i am looking for job too. I am on HSMP and i have 1 year left on my Visa but i am still qualifying for the point. But don't know whether i can apply so early for Tier1.

Have you filled Rp1 form etc?

Please let me know

since how long you been working for your employer? You can claim redundancy payment through RP1. Go to BERR.com. and find out more detail about it.

I cannot claim redundancy amount since it requires 2 years employement.

Hi Jimmy,

I am in uk, London. Been working for employer 2 years and some months then made redundant. Actually, I was on contract and they decided not to renew because they closed down one business branch.

So, I dont think I could actually claim redundancy if I was on contract and it wasnt renewed although they wrote in the letter that it was because they closed down one site.

But where do you get the Rp1 form?

Jimmy. Can I claim back my taxes from HMRC on P5o if since I am not working now. Still Job hunting.

Hi Jimmy,

I called the Berr and explained my situation. Unfortunately I do not qualify to get redundancy. Just my luck.

Regarding switching to Tier1 you could call Tier1 help line and ask them but dont give any specific details like your name or anything. Just ask them in general when you could switch to tier1. I am sure they would tell you.
