Newborn baby waiting for passport. Parents need to apply for extension.

Post by Hellobro » Sat Feb 27, 2021 10:16 am

Help please!

My newborn is still waiting to receive her passport and she will be 3 months soon.
Us parents have to apply for ILR next week. Currently we are on DES visa.

How do we inform UKVI that our baby is born in the UK and that we are waiting for her passport to be made. Beacuse of covid the passport service is slow and we havent recived baby passport yet.

We dont want our baby to be without any status in the UK. Does anyone know how to contact UKVI to inform them about our baby born in the UK.

The baby already has permission to be in the UK. See https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information-- ... layer-3382

However, your baby born in the UK is only covered for free NHS health care in England up to the age of three months. After this, they are only covered if they have formal permission to stay. See https://www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information-- ... layer-3209

So it depends how important the NHS health cover is to you. If it isn't important, there is no particular reason for your baby to apply for permission to stay until such time as it needs to re-enter the UK after travel.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.

Alternatively, get health insurance cover for baby?
Moreover, baby will be entitled to register immediately after a parent is granted ILR.
