Companies that sponsor work permits

Post by ligblou100 » Mon Sep 29, 2008 5:59 pm

Hi. Where do I find companies that sponsor work permits!? Employers like my CV but don't want to help me without the right to work in the UK :(

Why don't you try applying Tier1 (HSMP)?

Try and avoid telling the companies you are not from the EU (till the last moment) then they might do more of an effort after getting you in for an interview and realising they want you services

Also, a useful site: www.workpermitsponsors.co.uk

Alternatively, there is a list of sponsors on the UKBA website, and it isn't £4.99 to access it. Oh, it also has more employers on it than the £4.99 list.

It also gets updated regularly.

register of sponsors

UKBA page with the list.

Good luck with your jobhunting. If it is a large employer, then I am certain that they would be more likely to sponsor you if they had a suitable vacancy and no EEA/resident workers who were suitable.

In a way, the question is almost wrong...

There is hardly a clear set of "comapnies that sponsor" versus "comapnies that don't". Many companies are technically capable of sponsoring WP candidates, but are *unwiling* to do so because they have plenty of eligible candidates. At the same time, there are companies that have never sponsored anyone, but at some point find it necessary to discover the process and go through it, because they have found a real star, or because there are simply no other qualified candidates - in any case, it is often the market that decides for them whether to sponsor or not, rather than some sort of advance decision.

Unless your profession or area of expertise is one of the jobs that are listed on the shortage list then it will be very difficult for to find a company willing to sponsor you.

And even if it is, the company has to prove that they cannot find someone to fill the job within the EU.

Best way really is through HSMP.
