overstayer/student visa

mr x overstayed in the uk for 2 years
now that is back to his country wants to apply for a student visa
left the uk without a second glance.
would it be ok if mr x applies and says that stayed in the uk only for a short stay ??? can they find out?
with a new passport?

They most certainly can!

If he left before 1st October 2008 and can provide evidence of this, he shouldn't spoil it with deception. That will only get him a 10 year ban from the UK.

All he would need to do now is meet the rules of coming back as a student.
