Self Employment on Tier 2 General Visa

Post by firefreezer » Sun Jun 27, 2021 10:25 pm

Hi all

I work in the finance industry and my professional body has asked me to volunteer for exam marking for student scripts. They pay a nominal amount per script and this will be a self employed role (no PAYE).

Given only a qualified personnel can do exam marking, this role should fall under the same job code (which is a shortage occupation) and it will not be more than 20 hours per week. Though i am not sure what same level means as i do not mark exams in my main job.

I hold a Tier 2 General visa, can anyone tell me whether i can take up this role or not? And it would be helpful if they could provide links to gov uk website stating the same or the negative?

Thanks in advance.
