Registering a Child as British citizen

Hi all. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. I couldn't get a post that fitted my exact situation. My situation explained below:
Wife on ILR. Already applied for Naturalization. Decision due imminently.
I am on Tier 2 dependant applying for ILR in September 2021
Son (Age 3) born abroad also on Tier 2 dependant valid till August 2022.
Will it be possible to wait till I get my ILR and then apply to register him as British citizen without him having to apply for ILR? My wife will be British by then and I will be settled.

Your child born abroad requires ilr before they can be registered as British.
Char (CR001 not Casa)
