SIM (Independent Migration) or SAS (Australian Sponsored)

Post by vijay2002 » Sat Oct 18, 2008 1:11 pm

Hi,
I am thinking of migrating to Australia with my family and found that under GSMP I am eligible for both SIM (Skilled Independent Migration; subclass 175) and SAS (Skilled Sponsored Australian Sponsored; subclass 176). I got about 135 points when I did a self assessment.

Now I am not so sure if I should go for SIM or SAS. My brother is an Australian citizen and he can also sponsor me if needed.

Which one (subclass 175 or 176) do you think is better? I am tempted to go for 176 as I believe it may get higher preference since its sponsored by an Australian citizen. Also, due to current global financial crisis, I believe timelines of 175 applications may get higher but 176 may continue to take same time as before. Again, these are just my hunches and it would be great to hear views from other forum members.

Thanks.
