Naturalisation process assistance

Post by timefactor » Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:30 am

thought to start a thread seeking help & assistance, I'll try to do the research myself but may pester you guys in case I can't find relevant info.

I'll complete my 6 years in this country by 5 Nov 08 [Got ILR on 28 Oct 07]

Supporting document's I've

a. 12 months bank statement
b. 12 months payslip
c. 12 months Council tax bill in both mine & partners name
d. Freehold property details
e. Marriage certificate
f. Language test certificate (mine & partner)

BTW, my daughter's ILR sticker is on an expired passport. Does it really matters?

Thankyou
TF

timefactor, I really do think it would be a good idea if you download the AN application form, needed by you and your wife, and the MN1 form needed in respect of your daughter, if she is still under 18.

Once you do that, and have a good read, you will appreciate that much of the documentation listed by you is not actually needed.

There is no 6 year requirement. You are mixing two different tests together :-
  • the need to have ILR for at least one year
  • the need to be physically in the UK exactly 5 years before UKBA receive the Naturalisation application.
Accordingly, if you were physically in the UK on 28.10.03, then you can apply on 28.10.08!

Daughter's expired passport? Not a problem.

Thankyou John, as usual you are always there with some good assistance!

So I'm going to send out the application on 27 Oct 08 (that saved my 9 days).

Thanks

Highly recommend that you do not post the application, but instead use the NCS service, as per this UKBA webpage.
