Divorce during naturalisation application

Post by Sunny32 » Wed Dec 08, 2021 9:54 am

I have applied for naturalisation under 6(2) - spouse of a british citizen. at the time of the application, we already had a Decree nisi. however, legally we are still married until a Decree absolute is granted.

as the requirements of 6(2) are fulfilled - legally married on the date of the application. I have two questions.

1. if we apply for decree absolute while my application is considered, will it affect the naturalisation application.

2. on the naturalisation application, i have set my status as 'married' which i am legally and did not mention the award of the decree nisi. can this go against me.

i have been following the very useful posts here and would appreciate if any of the Gurus have any thoughts on the above.

I am not expert or Guru but potentially you could fall into the trap for the good character requirement of not disclosing this information.

Were you qualifying all the other requirements in your own right otherwise?
