Naturalisation for Non-EEA Child

Post by discover_ireland » Wed Dec 15, 2021 3:18 pm

hi all

I am an Irish citizen. My wife and daughter came to Ireland last month.

It was stated on the INIS website that my wife can submit her naturalisation application after 36 months.

My question is after how long, I can submit my daughter's naturalisation application. My daughter is just 5 years old.

any expert please comment on it.

thanks

Check this form 9.
chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/viewer.html?pdfurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.irishimmigration.ie%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F11%2Fform-CTZ4.pdf&clen=836196&chunk=true

You should use this application form if you are a naturalised Irish citizen seeking to obtain a certificate of naturalisation on behalf of your minor (under the age of 18) child. Your child should generally have 3 or more years residence in the State prior to the date of application.

Hi ashdublin,

Thanks for your reply.

I discussed with a friend who suggested to register my daughter's birth certificate with FBR (Foreign Birth Registration).

My child was born outside Ireland when I was a naturalised Irish citizen.

As per his suggestion, I can register my daughter's birth certificate with FBR in order to apply for her citizenship.

Can you anyone comment on this?

Thanks,

If your child was born after you became an Irish citizen, you can register her under FBR.
