British Citizen for European kids

Post by Junaidbinyasin » Fri Jan 21, 2022 8:35 pm

Hi

I am married to eastern European. I have indefinite leave remain granted last year. My wife who is European got ILR in 2017. Now she has pre settled status.
My kids were born in 2014 in the UK.
My question is Do I need to apply for naturalization for my kids or I can apply for British passport?

Thanks in advance.

You have to register the children as British first on form MN1 before they can apply for a passport.
Char (CR001 not Casa)

The general rule for acquiring British citizenship is that specific conditions must be met at the time of the birth fo the child to acquire British citizenship automatically.

Acquisition at any time after birth normally requires either registration or naturalisation and is not automatic.
