UK Spouse Visa: Quick question!

Post by oldmantom » Sun Nov 09, 2008 12:32 pm

Hi,

My wife (US citizen) is applying for a UK Spouse Visa.

After completing the online application they gave us a list of required supporting documents. On the list they have asked for this:

"Immigration status (Original not copy) e.g. Permanent residence card, Valid I-94 H1-B - L-1 - B-1 I-20 (Signed on reverse side) IAP-66 Employment authorisation card with advance parole document."

She is a US citizen and has never had a visa for any other country before, I don't know what any of the I-94 etc is..

My question is what are these and do we need to provide them? I think it might be just a generic list and maybe they don't apply to us?

Thanks, Tom

That is confusing. She should supply her US passport. That of course confirms her status in the US.

She would supply her passport anyway, because of course that is where the visa will go ... hopefully!

Yep they had passport further up the list.

Here's a picture of the whole list the application website asked for:

Everything else makes sense apart from that one point.

I think that list assumes that the applicant is not a US citizen, but a citizen of a third country and resident in the US. Your wife's production of her US passport will clear the fog.
