Previous Earnings: Some amount paid as Advance

Post by theroyale » Wed Nov 12, 2008 10:24 am

Hi there,

I have a query about my previous earnings that I hadn't considered until now:

A part of my annual salary was paid to me on a prepaid card as an Advance at the beginning of my assignment. This was then deducted in equal instalments over the next 5 months, i.e. my first 5 payslips each paid me 500 pounds less than the stated salary.

How do I declare my previous earnings in this case? My payslip shows

Earnings before tax: 2500 GBP
Tax: 400 GBP
Advance: 500 GBP
Amount Paid: 1600 GBP

In this case, what will the case-worker look at? If she looks only at Earnings before tax and tries to tally that with Amount Paid, there will be a shortage of the 500 GBP Advance.

If I subtract the 2500 GBP Advance (500x5) from my Previous Earnings, I fall into a lower earnings band (but still have enough points to reach 75).

How do I handle this?

Thanks!
Ashwin

Can anyone assist with this? I am planning to apply in 3 days time and would very much like to be sure of what income band I should be ticking!

Thanks!
Ashwin

As long as you can provide payslips from the employer to you for the amount, and also vaild and original bank statements showing the money going in from the employer you should be ok :)
