TIER 1 extenssion Query

I am on HSMP(Old point system) and it's expiring on Oct 09.
When can I applied for extenssion?
Somebody told me tht I can apply in the month of July also.
Is it true?
Also can anybody give me the link for whole document for the ier 1 extenssion process.

1 month in advance when you got the HSMP or one month before your visa expires?

I believe that you can apply for an extension of Leave to Remain under Tier 1 a maximum of 5 weeks before the expiry of your existing visa. Therefore, I would imagine that you would be eligible to reapply in late August/early September 2009, dependent on when your visa expires.

The policy guidance document is on the top right hand corner of the page, and I recall that the actual statement about when to apply is on one of the last few pages.
