Employer Letter format - Submitting application tommorow

Post by ish_78 » Mon Mar 07, 2005 8:30 pm

My previous employer wrote this in my employer reference letter..

This is to certify that Mr. **** has been working on **** project from Aug'2002 to sept'2004. We find him hard working, honest and sincere towards his work. He possesses a good technical knowledge in his working area.
The roles and responsibilities held by him are as follows:

Role: Analsyt Programer Period: Aug'2002 - Sept'2004

Responsibilities:

Conducting design reviews of low lever design.
Implementing the design by coding the functions.
Coding common modules for the functions.
Component testing of the modules developed and carrying end to end integration with host
Peer to peer code reviews to maximise quality and maintainability of code
Fixing bugs raised by Unit, Integration and system test teams
Implementing code changes for iNternal change requests.

Is it enough to be considered as graduate level experience or I should talk to my employer for more detailed responsibilities.

Shall be waiting for commments from fellow members.

Hi,

I think it is quite short. Consider following points.

1. Mention whether it is full time or part time.
2. Who is reporting to you and to whom you are reporting to .
3. Also give some few words about company's business/ profile in the first paragraph.
4. Also mention whether it is a graduate level experience

Hope it helps you.

Regards,

Baskey

Ish_78,

I guess you are on work permit in UK. If you are, then this seems alright, ofcourse in my opinion.

Yes, I am on work permit in UK for last nearly three years and I am in IT, this experience corresponds to my work in UK only.
I would like to hear comments from fellow members and moderaters.

i think you need them to put in the word Graduate together with your job title. i dont think the fact that you are on a work permit will guarantee you will get the experience points

f2k thanks for your reply

I dont think my employer will write the word graduate and sincerely I feel the reponsibilities written corrsponds to graduate level experience. and more over you cant change the Job title as it should be same as written on the work permit.
I am double minded now..

f2k are you in IT?

if they wont change the job title at least try and get them to mention that the job requires a degree or something to do it. also a question to you, are you also claiming points for degree, cause if you are not i can foresee that to be a problem.
I am not in IT, I am in construction.

Thanks again for your reply

I am claiming points for education. 25 to be precise as my masters degree is evaluated at par with british masters degree by UK-NARIC degree. I have submitted that certificate as well with the application and this experience is after I completed my Masters degree

Ish_78,

The job description is sufficient, I had something on very similar lines. Also they consider your current pay. When I applied about a year back for my HSMP my pay was 3*k. So a job with a descent pay would require a graduate experience.

Also in your covering letter do mention that the job requires a graduate degree and immediately follow it with your HR department contact stating that they can speak to the HR department at this number if they want any clarification regarding the job requirement.

Also attach 3 printout from jobserve web site meeting your job requirement (I was into dot net, SO I had 3 prinouts from the www.jobserve.co.uk website with dot net job profiles) This is to pass the message to the HO that if you get your HSMP then you will work in a profile similar to these printouts. As the case workers are not very technical they can see the salary in these job printouts which gives them a fair idea of your skillsets.

Hope this helps,
All the best.

Thx baskey , you given us a good suggestion also if u and any one
else can help me with senior level position

What should be mentioned in duties letter and organization chart As it’s seems to be the home office is very reluctance in giving senior level points.

Waiting for the response

thx
