council tax bill

Post by John Charis » Tue May 24, 2022 3:47 pm

hello,

I hope to bring my wife over to UK, I am a EU national with pre-settled status

I am currently staying with a member from church who is no relation, in a 4 bedroom house in what I believe is a council house.

she has agreed to write a letter confirming to host us without any limit and providing a copy of her tenancy agreement and her passport.

My question will this suffice as proof of accommodation, or is it mandatory to have a council tax bill and my name reflecting on it or will this letter be enough?

Thank you for your reply

Council tax is not mandatory but you need permission from the council which can be difficult to get because they are the landlord.
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.

She would have needed to get permission from the council/HA to allow the OP to live in the property, so hopefully it shouuldn't be too difficult to get permission for the OP's wife too.
