Savings vs Earnings for spouse entry clearance

Post by mealos » Sat Jun 11, 2022 11:47 am

Hi all,

Got confused with the rules: Is a British citizen/settled person required to have held £16k or over in savings for longer than 6 months prior to his/her spouse's application to entry clearance to UK, irrespective of the individuals' income?

Or does the (British settled person) sponsor's income suffice on its own to prove that the couple can maintain themselves in UK?

Thank you in advance.

The income may be
alone or in combination with
the savings (or vice versa), as specified in Appendix FM-SE.
