Highly skilled extension - UK ID app

I am currently on a tier 2 visa, and will be applying for an extension. From what I understand
this will be through the highly skilled visa. It seems this is just a whole new application though. My question is - will I need to scan my old BRP card for this, or will it solely be based on my passport details?

BRP card is your permit to live in UK and is strictly not your identity document.
Passport is your identity document.

It would be a new application and it is not an ammendment to your old successfull application.

They do have a history of all previous immigration application made. In any case, you will have to provide BRP and current passport details.
