Immigration Adviser

Post by kavisekhar » Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:35 am

Hi Members

We are due to apply for ILR in Nov/Dec .
Would like to know whether it is mandatory to apply thru a Immigration adviser or can we apply by ourselves.

Cheers

No, a waste of money in my opinion.
can we apply by ourselves.
Yes. Most people do it themselves.

SET O Application

Post by kavisekhar » Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:51 am

Hi Members

At gov.uk it is mentioned as below

''The earliest you can apply is 28 days before you’ve been in the UK for 5 years on a qualifying visa''

Does this refer to 28 days prior to entering into UK or 28 days prior to issue of visa.
In our case visa was issued on 14th Dec however we entered the country on 30th Dec .
hence not sure when do we need to apply will it be 16th Nov or 30th Nov .
Could some one help .

Thanks
Cheers

28 days prior to issue of visa
This one.

I have also merged your topics. Stick to one topic for all your queries about the same application.

Hi

In the application form it is asking for the details about Other country you lived in.
What is the period for which we have to give the details?
Is it for the preceding 5 years(Tier 2 period)or do i have to give the details for all the years including before the visa period.
Kindly Clarify.

Dear Members

There is also a question asking whether I have lived in any other country.

Have you lived in a country outside UK including your country if birth?

This question is part of immigration history.
Can I give details for the previous 5 years even for this or give details for all the years till date.

Kindly clarify.

The question is asking about lived, not visited. If you've lived in any other country, then the answer is yes. State where and when!

It should cover your whole life.

You're making the mistake of thinking maybe you're residential period in the UK. It's not possible for you to live in 2 countries at the same time.

Did you have a business visa for those countries or you had a residential permit.
If the visa allowed you to LIVE there and not just transact business, then it goes on the list.
Business visas don't go on the list.

Spelling Difference in the Documents

Post by kavisekhar » Sun Sep 11, 2022 5:15 pm

Dear Members

I had changed the spelling in my name and have added an additional ''R'' long back.
Have mentioned as No for the question have you been known by any other name while applying for Tier 2 General.
I am applying for ILR now ,do i have to tell about my chnage in name now.
My UK naric has the old name were additional R is missing.
Not sure whether it will cause confusion if i declare about my other name now.

KIndly clarify.

Hi members

I had travelled to other countries on business visa only.
I will give details about my stay in India for the question relating to have you lived any where.
Do i have to submit my old passport which has the travel details to other countries.
I had used my current passport only for all my UK related visa.

K

That question is not important at all. It is asking about if you LIVED somewhere NOT visited. Only passport in the last 5 years is required
