Sorry for the confusion, This is exactly what it says. I think it is a standard letter that everyone gets on FLR approval.

Kumar,
Thanks for stating what ur letter says.
I also receives the same type of letter i think so.
Why I asked you this question because a couple of months before I read on the forum that an hsmp cadidate got extension and a letter saying that he can apply for ILR at the end of 3 years.

Cheers any way,

I had 2 months before expiry. I guess you could do the same. I have read a few posts here where they have returned passports of people applied too early (2.5 months). So did not want to take a chance there.
All the best.

Hi,

I donot think u need to show any particular amount. It will suffice if you show that you had regular income (with bank statements/pay slips) and able to support ur wife and also u have an accomodation.

EC should be smooth for u.

Good Luck.

Thanks

Well when I got my extension for next 3 years I received a letter saying

"Your Application for extension of stay in UK as Highly Skilled Migrant has been considered against paragraph 135D of HC 395 of immigration rules.I am pleased to inform you that your application has been approved for further 3 years.

At the end of 3 years an application may be made to HO for Indefinite Leave to Remain in UK.Application must be made on appropriate form.

Yours Sincerely

The subject matter of my letter is different than the letters received by rckybhardwaj, Kumar1977 and baskey.

Anybody got the letter like I have got?

Mine is different - it doesn't mention ILR but says one can apply for FLR at the end of this 3 year period. No reference is made to Immigration Rules.

Mine read:

If you wish to apply for further extension of stay as a holder of an Immigration Employment document towards the end of you permitted stay, you should apply on the appropriate form. These forms can be obtained from our website www.workingintheuk.gov.uk or by telephoning our distribution centre on 08705 210 224. If you require further information regarding this process please contact us.

Alternatively, if you or your dependants wish to apply for further leave to remain in another capacity towards the end of your permitted stay, then you must do so on an application form. These forms can be obtained from the Application Forms Unit on telephone number 0870 241 0645. If you should require further assistance regarding this please contact the enquiry line on 0870 606 7766

One meaning of the changed wording is that they may no more be considering to give ILR after the 3 year extension. The newspaper reports of changing minimum period for ILR from 4 years to 5 years seem to be true and HSMP holders would have to seek another FLR at the end of the 3 year extension. It is a breach of promise but then we are in no position to complain

Rog is right I am afraid. But when you look at it realistically it doesn't make much difference - if one manages to live "appropriately" for 3 years you can do the same for another year with FLR and then apply for ILR.

At the same time my understanding is that it may well be easier to apply for citizenship after getting ILR - perhaps even immediately after getting ILR instead of waiting another year. This is hinted at in the immigration plan announced by the home secretary some time ago. If this would be the case then it wouldn't make any difference in my case - my target is citizenship, not ILR...

When I send my application last year I had to sign a declaration that I intend to remain indifinite in the UK. I had to make the declaration when applied for EC.

All of us had done the same, but it is subject to us getting permission to do so. Remember the purpose of HSMP is getting taxpayers who pay more to the state than they receive from the state, and obviously government wants us to stay UK residents so we pay taxes. If one gets citizenship and moves out of country there is no benefit to the country at all, as she/he won't be paying taxes.

As I got my extension on 20th of Dec 2004,so you people might be right that they have changed their mind and might give ILR after 5 years. So they changed the format of letter clearly showing their intensions. But what about the letters they sent to us in 2004 stating that we can apply for ILR at the end of 3 years?I would also have to apply for further extension or would have to apply for ILR according to their instructions?
