Reminder to provide your Biometric information
When you made your application online, you were advised that you had up to 35 days from the date of your application to attend an appointment to enrol your biometric information at a Service and Support Centre (SSC).

You have not yet attended an appointment.

You now have 14 days from the date of this notification in which to attend an appointment to enrol your biometric information.
You can do this by returning to your online application and following the instructions to book an appointment at an SSC.

Once you have booked your appointment, please make every effort to attend. If you do not enrol your biometric information and provide the required documents your application may be rejected as invalid.
Please remember to bring to your appointment all documents listed in the document checklist provided when you made your application online. If you no longer have your document checklist, please return to your online application and print a copy.

If there are particular circumstances that mean you are unable to make an appointment to enrol your biometric information within the specified time frame, you must call 08000 55 63 55 and explain why you are unable to do so. We may request more information and evidence about why you are unable to enrol your biometric information.

The next section sets out what you can expect when you attend your biometric enrolment appointment.

Yours sincerely

UKVI
On behalf of the Secretary of State for the Home Department

Next Steps
What happens at your biometric enrolment appointment?
Please arrive in good time for your appointment. If you are late, you may not be able to provide your biometric information.

Your photograph and fingerprints (fingerprints are not taken for those under 5 years old) will be taken electronically, so there is no ink and no staining. We are aware of the need to protect your dignity, privacy and modesty, and therefore special arrangements will be made at your appointment if needed.

You must remove the following items during the biometric enrolment process:

glasses/sunglasses
headphones/headsets
hats/scarves/other head covering (except those worn for religious reasons)
If you wear a religious head covering, please wear one that is a dark colour, otherwise it can be difficult to take a clear photograph.

If you are under 16 years of age, you must be accompanied by the Responsible Adult named on your application form. For more information, see section ‘Children under 16’ below.
Your documents will also be taken and scanned, and, where possible, the originals will be returned to you. Your passport will be retained.

If English is not your first language
If you think it will be difficult for you to communicate when you attend to enrol your biometric information, you can request that a Home Office approved interpreter be present during the enrolment process. You can make this request when you book your appointment online.

If your personal details are incorrect
It is important you check that your name, date of birth and nationality at the top of this document are correct. If they are incorrect you must tell us at your appointment. We will then update your details on our system once we have confirmed with you any changes that need to be made.

Children under 16
Children under the age of five years are only required have their photograph taken, not provide fingerprints.
Children five years and over must have their fingerprints and photograph taken.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied at the biometric appointment by the Responsible Adult named on their application. If they are not accompanied by this person, they will be unable to have their biometrics taken.
If the responsible adult is the child’s parent/legal guardian and not applying at the same time as the child, they must bring proof of identity in the form of a valid photographic document.

If the responsible adult is a Local authority registered foster carer, social services representative or school representative, they must provide a letter from the authority or establishment they represent confirming they can act as a responsible adult for the child. They do not need to provide a letter from the applicant’s parents or guardian.

Local authority registered foster carers or school representatives must provide proof of identity in the form of one of the documents listed below. Social services representatives must provide a photographic employee document issued by their employer.

If the responsible adult is not the child’s parent/legal guardian, and is not a Local Authority registered foster carer, social services or school representative, they must bring a letter with them from the child’s parent/legal guardian, confirming that they are authorised to take responsibility for the child, and proof of identity in the form of a:

national passport
UK or Irish photo driving licence
national identity card
biometric immigration document (biometric residence permit or short stay permit)
biometric residence card
The proof of identity will be checked against the details given on the application
form.

How do we use and store your biometric information?
Biometrics are securely stored on the immigration system and on the biometric document as provided for in law.

The Data Protection Act 2018 governs how we use personal data. For details of how we will use your personal information and who we may share it with please see our Privacy Notice for the Border, Immigration and Citizenship system at https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... itizenship. This also explains your key rights under the Act, how you can access your personal information and how to complain if you have concerns.
