Mom and nephew visitor visa

Post by Artur111 » Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:19 am

Hi forum members and respected gurus

I’m planning to invite my Mom and my sister’s son to visit the UK for two weeks in June. My Mom has never been in the UK and my nephew 5 years old who is showing great interest to English language. So we thought it would great for him to come and visit us alongside my Mom.
In regards to visitor visa application for my Mom and my nephew, should I be attaching anything specific about my nephew?
We have prepared:
- his parents consent for him to travel with his grandmother
- my and my sister birth certificates translated to confirm that we are brother and sister and her son is my nephew
- as Mom is retired my 6 months payslips and bank statements.
- we do have three-bedroom house in London, so Land registry document

Please could you advise what else I could add to their visitor visa application?

Thank you

What evidence of ties to home country will both of them provide (financial, social, property, schooling, family, etc)?

My Mom
- property ties - owns a house and a flat in home country
- family and social - my sister (her daughter) and all other family relatives and friends live there
- financial - she receives state pension and does have foreign currency bank account with about £3k in it

My nephew:
- schooling - she is in nursery in home country (school starts at age of 7 there)
- family & social - his mother (my sister) and his father both live over there and all other extended family members

All the above to be provided as well?

What about the parents of your nephew? Are they working? Are they earning sufficient wages to be able to sponsor him on a voyage?

Yes, my nephew parents will be providing their wage slips to show that they earn enough to pay for his journey.
My Mom will provide bank account statement where she’s got about £2.5-£3k. And I will provide my payslips and bank statements to support her.

Should everything below to be provided as well?
My Mom
- property ties - owns a house and a flat in home country. Property Deeds?
- family and social - my sister (her daughter) and all other family relatives and friends live there - Cover letter explaining that?
- financial - she receives state pension and does have foreign currency bank account with about £3k in it - Foreign Currency bank account statement?

My nephew:
- schooling - she is in nursery in home country (school starts at age of 7 there) Nursery letter or to explain it in Cover Letter?
- family & social - his mother (my sister) and his father both live over there and all other extended family members - Cover Letter?

Provide as much evidence as possible to show ties to home country.

Get and include that letter from nephew's nursery, it may do some good if it states nursery will be on holidays around the time of her intended visit to UK.

I second this line of thoughts. No guarantees though, but worth giving it a shot.

Dear all,

Please can you kindly advise in terms of completing visitor’s visa application form, whether my mother and nephew need complete separate individual visa application on gov.uk?
My mother have completed her application and she’s mentioned my nephew in additional details, but there was not a specific section for my nephew to populate his full name, passport details etc. That makes us think that my nephew needs to complete a separate application for himself?
If that the case, does he need to mention my mother in his application as well, so British embassy caseworker will identify that 5-yr old is not going on his own but in fact with his grandmother?

2 applicants = 2 separate forms.

There is no concept of adding dependents etc to a visitor visa application single form.

He does and he should. There'll be a note on his passport saying "entry allowed with *grandmother's passport number*"
https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/if-youre-under-18
If you do have to apply for a Standard Visitor visa, you’ll need to identify the adult travelling with you in your visa application.

If the person you’re travelling with is not your parent, you’ll need to provide specific information about them in your application.

You can identify up to 2 adults in your visa application. Their names will appear on your visa. The adult can apply for a visa at the same time, but you must each complete separate applications.

FYI, if your mums application fails, your nephews application would also fail.

Good luck.
