Standard Visitor Visa UK - Some questions

Post by WakeWakeWake » Tue Apr 11, 2023 7:53 pm

Hi,

I've been trying to find some clarity regarding the Standard Visitor Visa for tourism purposes but still haven't been able to answer my questions. I was hoping someone here could help, specifically by clarifying the following please:

1a) For the 6-month version of the visa (GBP 100): What determines whether you're granted single, or multiple entry? The UK GOV websites stipulates maximum length of stay at 6 months.

1b) For the same visa above: In case multiple-entries are permitted, what is the timeframe you can enter the UK in before the expiry of the 6 month period? E.g. If said visa holder wanted to enter 2 weeks prior to the visa expiring for a 1-week trip, would this be permissible?

My partner and I are both British. We want our parents to visit, but one of our parents is a non-EU citizen requiring a visa, and is married to an EU citizen which is also where they reside:

2a) If you're married to an EU-citizen, does this supersede the Visitor Visa requirement for tourist purposes by presenting evidence of marriage? I presume it doesn't but still worth asking.

2b) As British citizens residing in the UK for over 20 years, is there anything we can do to increase chances of success of this visa being issued? Both parents and ourselves have sufficient funds and are relatively high earners.

2c) If this visa is rejected, is there an appeal process or would this leave a permanent entry in the record which would affect future applications? I'm weighing the risk of doing this versus not.

Thanks in advance for any input!

They are all multiple entry.

A person can enter the UK as long as they have a valid visa but they must leave by the expiry date at the very latest.

No. They need a visa. Being married to an EU citizen means nothing after Brexit for the purpose of entering the UK if you live abroad.
2b) As British citizens residing in the UK for over 20 years, is there anything we can do to increase chances of success of this visa being issued? Both parents and ourselves have sufficient funds and are relatively high earners.
The applicant must prove ties to their country of residence or home country, ie. family, social, financial, property etc etc. What you have in the UK to support a visit is less important.
2c) If this visa is rejected, is there an appeal process or would this leave a permanent entry in the record which would affect future applications? I'm weighing the risk of doing this versus not.
There is NO appeal process for visitor visas. Each application is decided based on the evidence submitted. However, previous applications are taken into consideration etc.
