What's the processing time for Schengen visas these days?

Post by Lost991697 » Thu Apr 27, 2023 12:48 am

Hey everyone, I'm meant to be flying to Italy on the 16th of August. I managed to get an appointment at the Italian embassy for the 27th of July. For reference, I'm on a STAMP 4.

On their website, they say to allow 15 days between the appointment date and travel date (not sure if they meant working days). Elsewhere on the website it says that most visas are issued within a week. I don't know how accurate this is.

What have your experiences been with the Schengen visa processing times at the moment? Is it wiser to cancel the appointment and keep looking for another one?

Took me a week to get a Schengen visa in a Dutch embassy, but it was through the application centre - usually consulates are quicker due to lack of middlemen. Of course, if you had refusals/etc, it might take way longer.
If you want to be extra safe, find another appointment, but you should be grand.

Oh, I've no refusals and have received a Schengen visa twice before as well. Thanks!

Which embassy? I asked German embassy and they told to go with tls. I don't think any embassy allows this even if you have eu spouse or child.

Germany is the worst one, they used to open the appointment for 3 month in advance now it’s 45 days and there are no appointments anywhere. All they say is to contact TLS which is absolutely useless

If you family member of an EU citizen then you can email the French embassy in Dublin to book an appointment they do give an appointment within 7 days but they request you to show a confirmed air ticket to show that you are travelling to France.

Thank you. We have a son who is an Irish citizen. Me and my spouse are non eu stamp 4 holders. That should be okay, right?

French Schengen release their visa appointment slot online everyday at 6pm. You need to log in right before 6pm and book the slot immediately. I tired it and got 1 slot a few months ago. It sounds difficult but it achievable.

I think flight booking is sufficient, have you managed to get appointment by email?

Not yet. My plan is for August. Site says I should try to get normal appointment and failing that, I should apply before 20 days by mailing them? Will they give me an appointment if I mail them now?
