2023 Naturalisation Applications Approved??

Post by handoubleu » Mon May 15, 2023 7:13 pm

In another forum I follow there is a reported influx of January and February 2023 applications receiving approval/request to pay the €950 already. The amount of 2023 applicants that have received approval is so large that the forum is discussing whether or not to contact the DOJ or media to get clarification as to why applications from 2020, 2021, 2022 are left in limbo while 2023 applications are literally receiving approval in months.

There is a bit of speculation ie theories trying to find rhyme and/or reason as to why this is happening, but does anyone on this forum have any idea if something has changed in the office that is now allowing 2023 applications to be, essentially, expedited?

This is just my own theory with absolutely nothing behind it.

At one point I think if I remember correctly towards the end of 2021 they said they would be implementing a new system from Jan 2022 (point system plus other changes) plus allocating more staff to the citizenship department. They also said they would be working towards getting the timelines down to an average of 9 months.
I'd say they took longer to implement and work out kinks than they thought but has resulted in smoother and quicker processing of applications.
In addition to this, when we applied Sept '21 the current processing time was 23 months, if husband is invited to June after paying 950 today that puts his approval time at around 20/21 months which around what was quoted and what I expected, so I'm not complaining. 2022 and 2023 applications being approved before 2021 applications (where no issues) is of course not right, and shouldn't be the case but ours was within what was quoted. I think they are now prioritizing 2023 applications with the new processes in place as they are quoting quicker times, because they are probably a little quicker to process, and reflect their own approval numbers from 2023 onwards as faster. They just don't care about the 2021 ones, and will probably say we are now approving applications from this year in 6 months.
Other theory, they just make it up as they go along.

Yes I know if a lot of people that applied in Feb/23 and have already received an approval and order to pay for the €950 fee today. It's not right with people that have been waiting since 2021 with no feedback from them.

This is an absolute disgrace! 2023 applications are being approved ahead of those from 2021 and 2022! This clearly delays the processing of 2021 and 2022 applications.

People need to write to their local TD's and the Minister for Justice (Simon Harris TD). Also people need to contact the media - The Irish Times, RTE, News Talk Radio.

Simply unacceptable! The Minister keeps saying applications are approved in chronological order. Yet they clearly are not!

I have emailed to number of TDs including the minister. I think everyone should do it. This is completly outrageous.

Hi,

I would like to bring to your attention that applications for Naturalization are prioritized completely unfairy. Applicants who applied in 2023 have already started receiving approvals while applicants from 2022 and 2021 are still waiting.

https://www.oireachtas.ie/en/debates/qu ... 3-21/1038/

In one of your parliamentary questions, you have responded saying that applications will be in chronological order. But that is not happening in practice.

It would be great if you can address this situation on priority as the number of people waiting for their application to be processed from 2021,2022 are already significant.

Thanks,
AJ

I am advised by the Citizenship Division of my Department that for the years 2021 & 2022 there were 29,156 applications received. 5,931 of these have been naturalised leaving a balance of 23,225 applications currently being processed. Up to 19 May, 5,665 applications have been registered in 2023. Our expectation is that applicants from across 2021-23 will be amongst those invited to citizenship ceremonies over the course of 2023. My Department intends to communicate with all applicants on a quarterly basis to provide regular updates on progress in this regard.

Hope is really not working anymore. My recommendation to all 2021 applicants at least is to go for judicial review because that's the only thing that actually works. TDs are theirs (as in FG, FG) so no point writing to them, media is in their pockets, social media is just noise. Spend a little bit of money and get your mental peace back; GO FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW. It scares the shit out of them!!

Hi everyone,

I have applied this year and haven't received anything, even acknowledgement, so don't worry, not every 2023 application is being processed faster than other years :)
