FLR (M) requirements and date of application

Post by BenAnswers2 » Mon May 08, 2023 8:53 am

Hello,

My wife entered the UK on 5th November 2020, meaning 30 months have now passed (visa granted on 1 November 2020).
Her spouse visa is due to expire on 1 August 2023, but can we apply for FLR (M) now? Are there any disadvantages of doing it now if we have the documents ready?

Also, if we are not using adequate maintenance, we don't need to provide
"evidence of council tax costs for the accommodation in the UK where you live"
Is that correct?

My impression is that the documents required are basically the same as before, with the exception of the correspondence requirement (letters jointly addressed over last two years). Please let me know if not.

Thank you very much for your help,
Ben

Yes you can, however to ensure you don't have a shortfall by the time due to apply SET (M) you may give it a couple more weeks. When do you intend to apply?

Is that correct? Correct, council tax doc can be used to meet correspondence/letters requirements

I was planning to apply in a week or two. Perhaps 20th May. That would hopefully get us over the five year line by expiry if FLR(M) is 30 months?

And then SET(M) you can apply for 28 days before 5 years? I think?

Thanks Amazonian :)

FLR (M), do you need foreign passports for British children?

Post by BenAnswers2 » Mon May 08, 2023 5:12 pm

A quick question - is there any reason to include copies of the Colombian passports of my two children in my wife's FLR (M) application, or will just the British ones to prove their citizenship be sufficient?

No, only their British passports.
For children, should I scan the whole passport or just biometric page?
And for me as the sponsor (British citizen) should I scan my whole passport or just biometric page?
And for my wife (applicant), I also need to scan the passport even though we are giving the passport at visa centre?

Thanks

British citizens only biometric page

Applicant biometric page and all stamped pages.

The passport is used at the appointment to only confirm the applicants details and identity.

Is there a submit button on UKVCAS?

Post by BenAnswers2 » Sat May 20, 2023 2:57 pm

I've uploaded all of the documents but have now been locked out of my account. That's fine, unless I actually had to _submit_ the documents somehow rather than just upload them...

Is it fine to go to the biometric appointment with them _just_ uploaded?

Extra days added FLR (M)

Post by BenAnswers2 » Mon Jun 26, 2023 4:24 pm

Hello,

We have just successfully applied for my wife's FLR (M), but instead of giving her 30 months from the date of application (May 17 2023 until 17 November 2025), they have granted permission until 23rd January 2026.

Should I be concerned about this?

Thanks!

The visa is issued from date of approval (not date of online application) for 30 months and sometimes 28 days extra is added.

What does the BRP card say if already received?
