Visit visa application from a third country

Post by Waseem432000 » Wed Jul 19, 2023 8:49 pm

Hi everyone,

I am planning to apply for visit visa for my father and I have been going through the previous posts and I have a rough idea of documents I would need to apply but I have a few queries that aren’t clear.

My father, a Pakistani citizen, is visiting my younger brother and his family in Australia(on a visit visa and he has been there for about 4 months). My questions are

1. Can I apply online on his behalf and is he allowed to do his biometrics in Australia or will he has to apply from his country of residence(Pakistan)?
2. He is retired and lives on his own ever and most of my family is here in the UK but I do have a sister and her family back in Pakistan who live independently. Do I have to provide their information as evidence that he has a family to return to or will that be not sufficient enough proof?
3. He has some savings in his bank account(about £8k), owns his house and gets pension from government in his account so I plan to attach that as evidence but should we also attach his tax records as well or bank statement from his account should be enough?
4. As his sponsor, I am required to attach my payslips, bank statements and employment letter but do I need to show any minimum balance in that bank statement? I have a primary current account where I receive my salary but a saving account where I usually save money and that one has more balance. Should I attach both statements?
5. As a cover letter, I want to explain that he wants to visit us to meet my kids(both born in the UK and haven’t been back to Pak so he hasn’t meet them yet). Should I provide this detail or just stick to a high level letter that he wants to visit us and other family members in the UK.
6. I know he will have to pay for any NHS services he uses while he stays here so I would like to get private health cover for him but is that required before he applies for his visa?
7. If he does get his visa and travels to the UK, would he need to have a return ticket in place before he travels?
8. He will be staying with us during his visit so is tenancy agreement and council tax bill enough for that evidence or do I have get some sort of property inspection done(he will only be here for 3,4 months, not permanently staying so it seems illogical but want to confirm it).

Apologies for a long list of questions.

Hi everyone,

My father, a Pakistani citizen, is visiting my younger brother and his family in Australia(on a visit visa and he has been there for about 4 months). My questions are

1. Can I apply online on his behalf and is he allowed to do his biometrics in Australia or will he has to apply from his country of residence(Pakistan)? There is a requirement for application to be from
Home country or a country where the applicant has a visa for and not as a visitor. What is the durationof his Australian visitor visa?

2. He is retired and lives on his own ever and most of my family is here in the UK but I do have a sister and her family back in Pakistan who live independently. Do I have to provide their information as evidence that he has a family to return to or will that be not sufficient enough proof? Strong ties to home country goes beyond only that. His having most of the family in UK is not a plus
3. He has some savings in his bank account(about £8k), owns his house and gets pension from government in his account so I plan to attach that as evidence but should we also attach his tax records as well or bank statement from his account should be enough? Tax records not asked for
4. As his sponsor, I am required to attach my payslips, bank statements and employment letter but do I need to show any minimum balance in that bank statement? I have a primary current account where I receive my salary but a saving account where I usually save money and that one has more balance. Should I attach both statements? While there is no minimum balance requirement, being able to show you have the means to support your visitor and they will not become public charge will be good
No
7. If he does get his visa and travels to the UK, would he need to have a return ticket in place before he travels? Being a genuine visitor means being ready to return to home country as per plan and or dates entered in application, in most cases evidence of return ticket asked for at UK border.
8. He will be staying with us during his visit so is tenancy agreement and council tax bill enough for that evidence or do I have get some sort of property inspection done(he will only be here for 3,4 months, not permanently staying so it seems illogical but want to confirm it). No

Apologies for a long list of questions.
Application needs to be made from home country or place of habitual residence in this case not Australia as being a visitor there.

Applications for short-term visas and Temporary Work – Creative Worker
You can make applications for a visit visa, a short-term study visa and Temporary Work – Creative Worker entry clearance in any visa application centre, British diplomatic mission or consular post overseas where entry clearance applications are accepted.

You should be present legally in that country or territory you’re applying from. If you are applying for a Temporary Worker – Creative Worker entry clearance you must also be in the country or territory for a similar purpose to the activity you are proposing to do in the UK.

Find a visa application centre.
