Staying out of Ireland for 5 months on Stamp 1

Post by tjIreland » Thu Jul 20, 2023 12:31 pm

Hello All,

I am an Indian Citizen, working in Ireland.
I am on Stamp 1 at the moment.
I have to Travel to India for 5 month cause of Medical Emergency.

Is this allowed, and will this affect my later renewals and Stamp 4 applications.
Also, can I work remotely from there while I am away in India.

Has anyone of you done that or Have any knowledge of it. Please guide me.

Thanks

I've never heard of someone leaving the country for so long. The best thing for you would be to get a confirmation from INIS, but not directly; instead, I believe you should consult a solicitor, who will be able to provide you with the most accurate advice regarding your next steps.
To be on the safe side, it is sometimes safe to seek legal counsel. Do you intend to remain there for more than five months, or have you been there for five months?

Yes I intend to go there for a medical procedure. Which will require me to stay there for 5 months

If you have not yet left, you should consult a solicitor and seek legal advice. Thus, you will not have to worry about your return home.
