MN1 application referrer rule

Post by ST542016 » Mon Jul 24, 2023 9:06 pm

Hi ,
I just received my ILR approval, so now applying for for British Citizenship for my 2 UK born childs.
I have read about 'referrer' which i need to include in the application. I am unsure if following would be ok to use in my application.
I am using two referrer who are old neighbour and friend. They know my both the kids very well, also they are both British citizen as well. But they are in Software professional and not in specified profession mentioned in the list in the guidelines.

Please suggest if i can use them and is there any risk of rejection or i would be asked to get another referrer instead of home office completely rejecting the application on this basis.

Thanks in advance.

That is the guidance which we should normally follow.
However if you are not able to find a suitable professional referee you could use yours and attach a note explaining the issue. UKVI are aware that referees are sometimes not willing to provide their personal details, so won't be an issue.

If they are not happy with a referee they will ask for a new one. It is not something that leads to an outright refusal.

Hi All,
Since this is British citizenship application, and where it ask to upload current passport details then just front and last page should suffice ? I don't think there should be need to show other pages where visa stamps given.
Please suggest.

Kind Regards,
Satyajeet

While it is for citizenship, there is no harm for providing details or evidence of residence or stay in UK.

Note your passport is proof of residency (through the stamped pages) so all pages should be provided, not just personal details pages.

Thanks .. I just realised something odd regarding referee declaration form. In the form it says that , referee should write the name of the applicant behind their photos and paste it.

Since all documents are being scanned , how does it is make any difference what has been written behind the photo when referee complete this form.
I can't find anywhere it says that i have to submit this form physically to UKCAS team.

Ignore that instruction, it is left over from the paper days. UKVI are behind in updating forms.

Ok, Thanks for your input. So the photo they use would be the one they take during biometric appointment then ?

No. You have to put a photo on the form before sending the forms to the referees to sign. The form completion has nothing to do with biometric enrollment process.
