Qualifying period

Post by lainybug » Tue Aug 08, 2023 8:15 am

Hi All,

I just wanted to double check please...UK Ancestry visa.

BRP date of issue: 12/10/2018
Valid until: 26/10/2023
Entry to UK was: 11/11/2018

Am I correct that we can apply for ILR from 14/09/2023?

If so, is the application date the date you submit the form on the visas-immigration.service.gov.uk website and pay, or is it the date of biometric enrolment? I am just wondering how long it may take to get a biometrics appointment after putting the form through.

Thank you.

The application date is the online submission and payment date - biometrics are done later, but they still need to be submitted so UKVI could start processing your application.

What was the date of your initial visa vignette in your passport?

The sticker in the passport states 26/10/2018 to 25/11/2018. Thanks.

You can apply no sooner than within 28 days before 12 October 2023. The latest you must apply is the last date your visa is valid.

Thank you very much. I assume once submitted - as long as submitted before expiry, it doesn't matter how long it takes to get the biometrics appointment (even if it falls after the visa expires), as she would be covered under section 3C of the immigration act?
