UK Student Visa Holder Moving To Ireland

Post by johnpromise01 » Tue Aug 22, 2023 9:47 pm

Can a valid student visa holder apply for a job from the UK to Ireland and move to Ireland on work permit? My friend is currently working as a carer in the UK on a student visa but he can no longer afford to pay his school fees and he's there with his child and spouse. He's considering moving to Ireland and apply for care job to Ireland from the UK. Is this possible?

Nothings stops them to do so, of course - they would need to find an employer who then can apply for CSEP (if job falls under critical skills) as any other person.
However, as CSEP process might take a while, your friend could be better off applying from their home country, depending on their visa validity, just so there's no catch-22 when they need to submit the passport for visa, but they can't do so in the UK.
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.
